Grease Trap Cleaning
What is a grease trap?
Also known as a grease interceptor, a grease trap is a plumbing device that, when working properly, minimizes foods, oils and grease(FOG) from entering the sewer system. In practically all municipalities, grease traps are mandatory for commercial kitchens. Without properly functioning grease traps, these FOG’s will block, clog and prevent the sewer and drain lines from working correctly. Besides odors, flooding, and many other unpleasant circumstances, the fines and penalties for failing to keep grease traps properly maintained can be very high.
HOW OFTEN SHOULD A GREASE TRAP BE CLEANED?
Depending on usage, most manufacturers recommend cleaning the grease traps every one to three months. A common rule of thumb is to have the trap cleaned when it is 1/4 full of FOG.
How do i know if it needs to be serviced?
